Core materials for public transport

The excellent strength-to-weight ratio of sandwich solutions is advantageous for transportation – lighter designs result in decreased fuel consumption, higher payloads and longer range, which combined have a positive impact on the environment.

Electric vehicles in particular benefit from the lighter weight, but also from the insulating properties since there is no heat generation from the engines.

Diab’s sandwich core materials are durable, have excellent screw retention and are readily molded to shape which make them perfect for exterior paneling, skirts and fronts, as well as floors for buses and trains. Especially developed for public transport interiors, our offer includes core ranges that meet the tough regulations for fire, smoke and toxicity.

In addition, foam cores are non-organic, which means that there is no risk of rotting or swelling. Composite materials do not corrode like steel which significantly reduces the need for maintenance.
